SEOUL: North Korea on Sunday fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the ocean off its east coast, international media reports have said.

The move has come as an unprecedented flurry of launches that South Korea termed it as ‘inappropriate’ amid the global novel coronavirus pandemic.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) reported that two ‘short-range projectiles’ have been launched from the coastal Wonsan area, and flew some 230 kilometers at an altitude of 30 kilometers.

The JCS, in a statement, said that such kind of military act by North Korea is inappropriate. It has also called for an immediate halt of such acts at a time when the entire world is experiencing difficulties due to novel coronavirus. (With inputs from Agencies)
