HULMA: Eight people have died from winter health ailments in over two weeks in three rural municipalities – Sarkegad, Kharpunath and Chankheli — in Humla district, authorities said.

They were suffering from pneumonia, asthma, cough and chest problems, according to Gaja Bahadur Raut, ward chair of Sarkegadh rural municipality.

Snowfall for one month has thrown life out of gear in the district, and as a result, electricity and telephone services have come to a halt.

Banking service has also been affected, said Sabita Shahi, manager of Rastriya Banijya Bank, Humla.
