Bagmati CM Poudel dismisses Deputy Parliamentary Party leader, Whip

KATHMANDU: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Dormani Poudel has sacked Deputy Parliamentary Party (PP) leader Salikram Jamarkattel and Whip Buddhiman Majhi.

Poudel’s Press Coordinator Prakash Dahal said that Chief Minister Poudel dismissed them accusing them of a role in filing a no-confidence motion against the government.

Bagmati CM Poudel belongs to the KP Oli faction of the Nepal Communist Party, while Jamarkattel and Majhi belong to the Prachanda-Nepal faction.

As many as 45 lawmakers of the Prachanda-Nepal had filed the no-confidence motion at the Secretariat of the Province Assembly against Poudel on Friday.

The ruling NCP has 80 lawmakers in the 110-member Province Assembly of Bagmati Province. Of them, the Prachanda-Nepal faction has 46 lawmakers while the Oli faction has 34 lawmakers.

The post of Chief Minister Poudel has been shaky after the party has been politically divided.

Similarly, three ministers of the provincial government had resigned from their posts.
