KATHMANDU: Government’s vision to ensure high speed broadband internet in all places across the country has been gaining a momentum with 67 per cent of physical progress achieved as of mid-December.
Of the total 753 local units in the country, 512 local units have got internet installed which is expected to enhance and improve delivery of the public services and facilitate their day-to-day works, according to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA).
The NTA’s Rural Telecommunication Development Fund has been funding the internet expansion project to all the rural places in the country which would be implemented in 18 packages.
NTA’s spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal shared that internet was connected in 46 districts of the 77 districts under various 12 packages.
Among the 5,933 ward offices in the country, 4,213 wards have got internet facility while 3,505 community schools of secondary level have been benefited with the government’s Digital Nepal Framework -2019.
Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur, however, have not been beneficiary of this scheme, according to Spokesperson Aryal. RSS
