SAFF championship to take place in Bangladesh



KATHMANDU: The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship is going to take place in Bangladesh in 2021.

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Executive Committee Meeting was held virtually over zoom on Monday decided to hold the SAFF Championship from September 14-25 in Bangladesh.

The Championship was to be held this year but was put off due to the coronavirus pandemic and the new dates have been fixed.

The meeting also fixed the dates for the various competitions under different age groups.

As per the approved SAFF Competition calendar for 2021, the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship will be organised from July 13-22, the SAFF U-16 Women’s Championship will be held from August 18-27, the SAFF U-15 Championship will take place from October 1-10, and the SAFF U-18 Championship will be held from October 15-24. The venues for these games have not been decided.

The meeting was presided by Mr Kazi Md. Salahuddin, president of SAFF. The meeting approved the revised SAFF statutes, standing orders of SAFF Congress, SAFF Electoral code, the competition calendar for 2021, budget for the year 2021 and the audited account for the financial year 2019.
