Chinese Defense Minister Wei wraps up Nepal visit



KATHMANDU: Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe has wrapped up his one-day Nepal visit this evening.

He had arrived in Kathmandu this morning.

During his stay in Kathmandu, Chinese Defense Minister Wei paid a courtesy call on Nepal’s President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, and Prime Minister KP Oli, and discussed bilateral issues.

Likewise, Chinese Defense Minister Wei and Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa also discussed issues of mutual interest and bilateral military cooperation.

Earlier today, he had said that the purpose of his visit was to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries by enhancing mutual military cooperation.

Wei said he was in Nepal in connection with the implementation of the bilateral understandings.

Stating that there is a strong relationship between China and Nepal, Wei said that he came to Nepal with the aim of taking it to a new height.

He arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday morning leading a 20-member delegation.
