Chinese Defense Minister Wei calls on President Bhandari



KATHMANDU: Chinese Defense Minister and State Councilor Wei Fenghe paid a courtesy call on President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Sunday evening.

During the meeting held at the President’s Office in Shital Niwas in Maharajgunj, they are learnt to have discussed bilateral relations and interests of mutual concern.

Chinese Defense Minister Wei, who is on one-day visit to Nepal, met with Prime Minister KP Oli this afternoon.

Earlier today, Wei said that the purpose of his visit was to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries by enhancing mutual military cooperation.

Wei said he was in Nepal in connection with the implementation of the bilateral understandings.

Stating that there is a strong relationship between China and Nepal, Wei said that he came to Nepal with the aim of taking it to a new height.

He arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday morning leading a 20-member delegation.

Wei was welcomed by Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa and other high-ranking officials upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport.

He is returning today itself.
