Govt postpones election of official trade union

KATHMANDU: The government has postponed the election of the official trade union of civil servants indefinitely.

Announcing the decision of the Cabinet, government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung said the government has decided to postpone the election of the official trade union.

He, however, said the government will announce another date.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Prime Minister’s residence last week had made the decision to this effect.

Earlier, the election of the civil servants union was scheduled for December 12.

The election is postponed time and again because of the Covid-19 menace.
