18 including two Sri Lankan tourists diagnosed coronavirus positive in Baitadi



BAITADI: Mayor of Dasarath Chand municipality Narendra Singh Thapa has tested positive to Corona Virus. Eight persons including Thapa were confirmed carrying the virus in the test carried out at the District Hospital, Baitadi on Saturday.

Others include three health workers based at the district hospital and health office, three Nepali army personnel, one Nepal police personnel, two Sri Lankan tourists and eight locals from the municipality, according to contact person of the health office, Bhuvan Prasad Joshi. The two tourists are staying at a hotel in Gothalapani.

With the new infections on Saturday, the total number of infected has reached 551 in the district. The number of active cases however is 55, with the highest i.e. 36 in Dasarathchand municipality.

Meanwhile, considering the rising number of infections, the Dasarathchand municipality has enforced a lockdown with effect from today. The lockdown will remain in place until December 8.
