Tatopani checkpoint to resume operations from October 5

KATHMANDU: The Tatopani checkpoint in Sindhupalchowk will come into operation from October 5.

Sindhupalchowk Chief District Officer Umesh Prasad Dhakal said that goods will arrive in Nepal from China from Monday.

On Tuesday, a Nepali team led by Chief District Officer Dhakal and a team led by Li Ulin, Deputy Director of the Foreign Office in Lhasa, agreed to open the checkpoint.

According to Dhakal, the teams of the two countries have agreed to complete the preparations by October 4.

“We have agreed to open the checkpoint,” he added, “Preparations will be completed by October 4 and the goods will arrive from the next day.”

Until the day the checkpoint opens, Nepal will have to keep a team of workers to be ready to unload.

“We have to get people to unload the goods. A total of 25 people are already there, we will add 29 more people,” said Dhakal.

According to Dhakal, it has been agreed to conduct the PCR test every five days for the workers who are engaged in loading and unloading the goods and to follow the health safety standards.
