Wild mushroom claims four of a family in Jajarkot



JAJARKOT: Four members of a family have died due to wild mushroom consumption in Jajarkot district.

The deceased have been identified as three year-old Anjana Chalaune, Apsara Chalaune, 16, Dhansara Chalaune,13, and Niruta,11, of Kushe rural municipaliy-1, Syankri.

Anjana died on Monday while the other three passed away in the course of treatment at Karnali Provincial Hospital, Surkhet on Tuesday.

The other four members of the same family have been taken ill after consuming mushroom.

They are 50-year-old Tek Bahadur Chalaune, his 30-year-old son Lalit, daughter-in-law Kalpana, 30, and 15-year-old daughter Pashupati.  They are receiving treatment at Provincial Hospital, Surkhet, said District Police Office, Jajarkot.

On July 24, Tek Bahadur had brought wild mushroom from a nearby jungle. The family members fell ill after eating curry made out of wild mushroom.
