Nepal’s coronavirus cases reach 13,248 with 476 fresh cases

KATHMANDU: A total of 476 new coronavirus cases — 364 males and 112 females — have been confirmed in Nepal in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said with this, the total number of confirmed cases in the country has reached 13,248.

According to Dr. Gautam, a woman from Morang was tested positive at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Biratnagar, 10 women and five men from Saptari at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, six men from Dhanusha and four men from Mahottari at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Janakpur and one man from Parsa at Narayani Hospital Birgunj.

Similarly, a woman and 13 men from Baglung, three women and 24 men from Arghakhanchi, a man from Bhaktapur, a man from Dhankuta, five men from Gorkha, five women and 15 men from Gulmi and a woman from Khotang were confirmed to be infected in tests at the National Public Health Laboratory in Teku, Kathmandu.

In the same laboratory test, one woman and 12 men from Palpa, one woman and 12 men from Parbat, one woman and 4 men from Pyuthan, one woman and 15 men from Rautahat, one man and 15 men from Rolpa, three men from Rupandehi, one woman and seven men from Syangja and five women and four men from Tanahun were confirmed to be infected.

Similarly, tests conducted at the laboratory of Shukraraj Tropical and Communicable Diseases Hospital have confirmed the infection in one woman and one man in Dhading, two women and two men in Kathmandu.
Laboratory tests at Bharatpur Hospital have confirmed coronavirus infection in 11 men from Arghakhanchi, two women and two men from Chitwan, one man from Kailali and 13 men from Palpa.

Likewise, a test conducted at the Insect Disease Research and Training Center, Hetauda, confirmed coronavirus infection in three men from Bara, one man from Makwanpur and one man from Rautahat.

A man from Kavre was diagnosed with coronavirus in Dhulikhel Hospital and a man from Kathmandu, a man from Rautahat and a man from Lalitpur in tests at Patan Hospital.

Similarly, a test conducted at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, has confirmed the infection in one man from Kathmandu, 20 women 46 men from Bajura.

According to Dr. Gautam, two men from Kapilvastu, two men from Rupandehi, one woman and three men from Pyuthan tested positive at Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Rupandehi.

Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in two men from Dolpa and two men from Kalikot in a laboratory test conducted at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj.

A test conducted at Rapti Institute of Health Sciences Dang has confirmed coronavirus infection in 22 women and 36 men in Dang.

Similarly, tests conducted at the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences have confirmed the infection in eight women and 24 men in Bajura and one man in Rukum West.

Tests conducted at the laboratory of Seti Provincial Hospital have confirmed corona infection in 8 women and 21 men in Kailali, 17 women and 52 men in Doti.

Nepal has performed 223,630 sample tests through the PCR method so far, he said.

A total of 7,791 sample tests have been performed through the PCR method and 1,822 samples test performed though the RDT method in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

Likewise, 121 persons were discharged from the hospital after being recovered from the pandemic virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the number of recovered people has reached 3,134.

Currently, 10,085 people are in isolation and 57,368 in quarantines across the country.

COVID-19 has spread to all 77 districts of Nepal.
