73 infected in a rural municipality in Jhapa



JHAPA:  Seventy three out of 79 people infected with Coronavirus in Jhapa district are from Kachankabal rural municipality, said District Health Office.

Kachankabal rural municipality is the worst-hit among 14 municipalities in the district. New 25 cases were confirmed during PCR swab tests at Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar.

Earlier, 48 people infected with COVID-19 were sent to Biratnagar Hospital and Dharan for treatment, according to Anjar Alam, chief of the rural municipality. All of those infected have recently returned from Mumbai, Delhi and Gujarat.

The swabs specimen of 276 people among those staying in six quarantines in the rural municipality had been sent to Biratnagar and Dharan-based laboratory for screening.

Among them, results of 73 came out to be positive while that of 35 is yet to be awaited. With this the number  of infection cases has reached 129 in Province 1.
