Latest update necessary to continue making calls: Zoom

KATHMANDU: Zoom has urged its users to update the app to the latest version if they want to hold video meetings.

It says updating will be more secure as it adds the latest encryption protocol.

Zoom users need to upgrade to version 5.0 on the app. The web client needs to ensure the GCM encryption and other security enhancements, which are mandatory to conduct video meetings by May 30.

Zoom said in a blog post: “On May 30, Zoom will cut over all accounts to GCM encryption.”

The US-based company further said the GCM encryption will be implemented system-wide, which means that Zoom apps on iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS, and the web clients will need to be updated by May 30.
