PM Oli-Dahal meet; Secretariat meet uncertain

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli and Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal have met to discuss and thrash out the intra-party disputes that have surfaced in the last couple of days.

NCP Chairman Dahal reached PM’s official residence at Baluwatar to discuss the problems. PM Oli and Dahal are also likely to finalize the issue of convening the meeting of the party’s Secretariat and the Standing Committee.

Earlier, some 20 Standing Committee members of the party had submitted a memorandum to PM Oli urging him to convene the Standing Committee meeting at the earliest.

It should be noted that the leaders of the ruling NCP had on Monday agreed to summon the Secretariat meeting of the party to settle the intra-party feuds.

Despite the decision, the leaders have not been able to convene the meeting as leaders of both the factions (PM Oli and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal) are busy in separate meetings.

The leaders are endeavoring to settle the disputes that have emerged after PM Oli brought two ordinances last Monday.

The Secretariat meeting, which his still uncertain, is likely to decide whether to summon the Standing Committee meeting or not, according to Standing Committee member loyal to Nepal group, Raghuji Pant.

Party senior leader Nepal has been adamant to his stance that a policy of ‘one person, one post’ should be implemented within the party, sources have claimed.
