Chinese Prez Xi assures support to Nepal in combating COVID-19

KATHMANDU: Chinese President Xi Jinping has assured of continued support to Nepal to combat the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Xi made the assurance during a telephone conversation with Nepal’s President Bidhya Devi Bhandari last evening.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chinese President Xi “recalled the spontaneous welcome” extended by Nepali people during his visit last year.

President Xi had visited Nepal in October 2019.

President Bhandari and Xi also shared opinions about the ongoing global combat against the pandemic of coronavirus and its impacts felt globally.

They also discussed in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken by their respective governments, MoFA said.

President Xi also appreciated the “swift and resolute” actions taken by the Government of Nepal to contain the spread of virus and assured China’s cooperation in this regard.
