POKHARA: The Gandaki State has only 200 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) meant for medical workers when the country is struggling to contain the COVID-19.

The medical protective gear is essential for medical/health workers who are on the frontline in combating the COVID-19 pandemic at this moment.

The PPE is specially manufactured clothing for the safety of medical workers while seeing patients with infectious diseases. Despite a limited number of PPE, there is no impact on the collection of swab samples from suspected people.

But, the available quantity will be so meager in treatment procedures in case of the detection of the virus.
”If the positive case appears, we estimate that at least we need 40 PPE sets each day,” said Gandaki State Health Directorate Director Binod Bindu Sharma.

As he said, the Directorate has requested the body concerned for the supply of a required quantity of protective gear. ”Hope we will see the supply soon,” he added.
