India death toll rises to 20, as COVID-19 cases reach 873

NEW DELHI: The death toll from Covid-19 in India rose to 20 on Saturday afternoon, Indian media reported.

Kerala has registered its first coronavirus death as a 69-year-old man died in Kochi Medical College today.

News agency ANI reported quoting Ernakulam District Medical Officer Dr. NK Kuttappan.

So far 5 deaths have been reported from Maharashtra, 3 from Gujarat, 2 each from Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and one each from Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in India has risen to 873 cases with 20 people dead, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Maharashtra has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases so far at 180, including three foreign nationals, followed by Kerala, where the number of cases has climbed to 173, including eight foreign nationals, according to the ministry data.
