NC hits the streets against HoR dissolution (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) staged demonstrations against the dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR) across the country on Monday.

The NC demonstrated, held rallies and organized mass meetings in as many as 165 federal constituencies including the Kathmandu Valley, according to Chief Secretary of the Nepali Congress Krishna Prasad Paudel.

Top-notch leaders of the NC addressed the rallies organized in different constituencies.

President Sher Bahadur Deuba addressed the meeting at Madhyapur Thimi Municipality in Bhaktapur, while senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel delivered his speech at Tanahun.

NC Joint General Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, meanwhile, has accused the Prime Minister KP Oli-led government for doing nothing in the last two years except for talking nonsense.

Addressing a protest rally in Kathmandu Constituency No. 5 on Monday, Mahat also alleged the Oli-led government for promoting institutional corruption.

“The Oli-led government has run arbitrarily,” he said adding, “The constitutional bodies have been politicized.”

Mahat also lambasted the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the government for giving space to “increased foreign intervention” in the country.

“Foreign activities and intervention have increased significantly in the country. Officials from China and India have been coming to Nepal. Why are they coming to Nepal frequently?” he queried.

“This is an irony,” he said criticizing the government for “talking rubbish” and doing nothing significant.
