FNCCI polls: 65 percent votes cast so far



KATHMANDU: A total of 65 percent of votes have been cast in the election of the Federation of Nepali Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

According to the Election Committee, the number of votes cast by district, city, commodity, and associates has reached 65 percent by 1:45 pm.

So far, 70 district municipalities, 65 associates, and 600 associate members have cast their votes.

There are 107 eligible voters in the district and city, 103 in the commodity, and 923 in the associates.

Voting started at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm. The Election Committee is ready to start counting votes as soon as the polling is closed.

As many as 1,116 voters are casting their votes to elect a new 65-member executive committee of the organization.

Incumbent Senior Vice President is automatically be elected to the post of President as per the statute of the FNCCI through the general meeting.

The others to be elected include 64 executive members including one Senior Vice President, Associate Vice President, Vice President of Commodities, and District Municipal Vice President.

Kishore Pradhan and Chandra Dhakal are in the fray for the post of Senior Vice President. Both the panels are contesting the elections.

FNCCI is the umbrella organization of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. It was established in 1965 with the aim of promoting business and industry while protecting the rights and interests of business and industrial communities.
