Parliament session should be summoned immediately: NC Leader Singh

KATHMANDU:  Main Opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has stressed the need to summon the session of the parliament as soon as possible.

Speaking at a program organized by Nagarjuna municipality, influential leader of Nepali Congress Prakash Man Singh demanded that the government call the winter session of the parliament without delay.

“The budget session was prorogued abruptly without following the due procedure, the government is now growing arbitrary, undermining the role of the parliament,” NC Central Committee Member Singh said at the program, adding, “Now the session of parliament should be summoned without delay.”

He pointed out that only the people’s representatives can put the government back on track as they have both the morale and power to check the arbitrary activities of the government.

He demanded with the government to take an initiation to empower the constitutional bodies by fulfilling the vacant positions.

Citing the report published by Transparency International, Singh claimed that the government is mired in corruption cases everywhere.

“Transparency International has made public the report of the events and cases of corruption the people have been talking about in bus, park and residence everywhere,” he said, adding “Now, former Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has claimed Oli-led government is soaked in corruption.”
