Distribution of poor ID cards within current fiscal year



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance and Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Ministry have decided to complete the work of identifying poor households and distributing identity cards within the current fiscal year.

During a meeting held at the Finance Ministry on Wednesday, it was decided to make necessary arrangements to complete the task by the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation while the Finance Ministry will make arrangements for additional resources for the same.

The meeting also drew the conclusion that the Land Management Ministry would prepare a schedule within a week to identify the poor households and to distribute ID cards.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said that problem has been surfaced to run relief related and subsidy programs from the government side for lack of record of poor families. He expressed the belief that the poor identity card would help poor families in different activities like relief, employment, and social security.

Similarly, Minister for Land Management Padma Kumari Aryal said that effective results could be achieved if the resources would be utilized appropriately while running programs based on poor ID cards.
