President Bhandari issues three ordinances



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has issued three ordinances on Monday afternoon.

Citing that few more ordinances have to be introduced in the absence of the regular session of the parliament, President Bhandari issued the ordinances.

According to the office of the President, Acid and other Harmful Chemicals (Regulation) Ordinance 2020, the Ordinance to make some Amendments on the Act related to the Criminal Offence and Criminal Procedure 2020, and Nepal Police and Province Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination) (First Amendment) Ordinance 2020 have been issued on Monday.

The ordinance related to the Acid and Other Harmful Chemicals (Regulation) hails stricter provision for the sale and purchase of acid.

It has added some strict provisions that make it mandatory to get prior permission for the sale and procurement of acid and other harmful chemicals.

Similarly, the newly introduced provision in the Criminal Offence and Criminal Procedure is stringent against the acid attackers.

The acid attackers have to face up to 20 years imprisonment and up to Rs one million as a penalty.
