Kathmandu Valley sees 53 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday

KATHMANDU: Amid fears of coronavirus transmission in the Kathmandu Valley, as many as 53 more coronavirus cases have been reported on Tuesday.

According to Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, the spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, the Valley has seen 53 new cases of coronavirus in last 24 hours.

Speaking in the regular coronavirus update, Dr. Gautam informed that Kathmandu Valley 48 new cases in Kathmandu whereas Lalitpur and Bhaktapur has four and one cases respectively.

According to Spokesperson Gautam, one person from Bhaktapur and 11 people from Kathmandu have been found infected with COVID-19 in a test conducted at National Public Health Laboratory.

Similarly, 9 people from Kathmandu and one person from Lalitpur were detected for COVID-19 in a test performed at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku.

Gautam added that one person each from Lalitpur and Kathmandu were found infected in a test executed at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj whereas one person from Kathmandu and one person from Lalitpur were tested positivie at the laboratory set up at Patan Hospital.

Likewise, in the swab test conducted at the Nepal Police Hospital, 21 people from Kathmandu came up with coronavirus positive report.

Star Hospital test showed that six people from Kathmandu and two people from Lalitpur have got the pandemic in them.

Considering the health hazards caused by the unrestricted and reckless movement of the people in the valley, MoHP has initiated swab collection at the entry checkpoints of the valley.
