Nepse up 5.38 points in first one hour

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) increased by 5.38 points to reach at 1,470.49 in the first one hour on Monday. During the period, shares worth Rs 386.4 million of 167 companies were sold.

Joshi Hydropower Company went up by 10 percent to reach Rs 55 per unit of share. Similarly, Nepal Life Insurance Company witnessed the highest transaction for Rs 54.2 million in first one hour.

A total of 11 groups were involved in the transaction.

Basant Chaudhary takes over as new HCCN-Dean

Basant Kumar Chaudhary, Honorary Consul-General of Morocco, took over as the new Dean of Honorary Consular Corps of Nepal (HCCN).

The deanship was handed over to Chaudhary by the outgoing Dean, Pradeep Kumar Shrestha, Honorary Consul of South Africa, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

In his welcome address, the outgoing Dean Shrestha informed the Minister and the AGM participants about the accomplishments during his one-year tenure. Chaudhary’s tenure as Dean will last till July 23, 2021.

Fire at Dharan veggie market guts property worth Rs 5.2 mln

A fire broke out at a vegetable market in Dharan Sub Metropolitan City -3 on early Monday.

The fire which broke out at  4 am due to short-circuit at the cosmetics shop owned by Rama Chauhan Khatiwada spread to 11 other shops, destroying property worth around Rs 5.2 million, said DSP  Gyanendra Basnet of Area Police Office, Dharan.

Hotels, vegetable shops, cosmetics shops were gutted in the fire. The fire was contained by police with the help of locals.

Air service resumes in Bajura

Air service has resumed in Bajura district as the rural roads from Martadi to other parts of the district have been closed due to incessant rainfall.

Air companies that had earlier closed their domestic flight services in Bajura since 24 March 2020 have resumed their services.

The Civil Aviation Office Kolti said that flight services have been made regular for the past couple of days by adopting safety protocol issued by the government against coronavirus. Office Chief, Shree Krishna Rijal stated that the flight service has resumed by wearing health protective such as gloves and facial masks and making RDT test mandatory.
