KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said it would be a day-dream to even think of ousting him simply because he took a bold step to issue a revised map that angered India.
“I have come to know that meetings and seminars were being organized in India against Nepal’s decision to amend the constitution by incorporating the revised map in the coat of arms,” he said.
“That, however, will not make a difference,” he said at a program at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday.
“It’s still fresh in my mind that I was toppled when I signed transit agreement with China,” PM Oli said, adding, “But we enjoy a majority now and toppling my government is not that easy.”
Moreover, Nepal’s nationality is not that weak as in the past, Prime Minister Oli said adding that Nepal’s nationality has been strengthened now.
“I’m working not only for present but also for future. If I step down, none will be able to speak ardently for nationality,” he claimed.
Prime Minister Oli urged one and all not to think that Nepal encroached upon other’s territory. “We simply issued a new map by including our territories that we could not use for the last several years,” he added further saying that some Nepali leaders, too, are hell-bent on ousting him.
Likewise, he also said that the sovereignty of any country cannot be big or small adding that since Nepal has a glorious past, it has a bright future.
“Nepal is a sovereign and independent country,” he said adding, “We feel proud to be never colonized by any power.”
Prime Minister Oli also stated that Nepal, too, should not make any mistakes by not asserting our rights on national issues.
Addressing the program to mark the 69th birth anniversary of Madan Bhandari, he said demand in politics depends on the situation, and the mood of the people.
“There was a time when political parties envisioned and advocated for democracy with constitutional monarchy,” PM Oli said, adding, “With the change of time and situation, people felt the need of a republican set up.”
