COVID-19 death toll in Sudurpaschim Province reaches 6



KAILAI: One more person died of coronavirus in Godavari Municipality of Kailali district on Saturday, taking the death toll to six in Sudurpaschim Province.

A resident of ward no. 7 in the municipality, the 50-year-old man was undergoing treatment at the Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan, according to the chief of Province Health Division, Dr. Narendra Singh Karki. Prior to this, two people from Bajura and three from Kailali succumbed to the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, 214 new cases were reported on Saturday. The tests were carried out in Kathmandu and Dhangadi.
This takes the total number of people infected with Corona Virus in the Province to 2,076, including 424 women. As of Saturday, 594 people have recovered from the virus.

So far, 125,293 samples have been collected for testing through RDT and PCR methods in the Province. Of them, only 16,935 samples were tested through the PCR method. The testing facility in the Province is only available at the Seti Province Hospital in Dhangadi.

The provincial government is in the final stage of setting up PCR laboratories in Doti and Baitedi districts, while one more will be added in Kailali, Dr. Karki said. RSS
