Rukum incident: Another missing body found

RUKUM: Yet another body missing in the Rapti river has been recovered.

Three persons had gone missing in the Rapti river when some youths dived in the waters of the river to save themselves from villagers of Chaurjahari on Saturday.

Divers on Wednesday found the body of Lokendra Sunar of Bheri municipality. It was floating in the river at Kudu, Chief of Jajarkot Police, DSP Kishore Shrestha said.

Three bodies of Dalit youths, who had accompanied Nabaraj BK of Bheri municipality, Jajarkot to elope an ‘upper-class’ girl, and later drowned or washed away by the river, had already been recovered.

The bodies of Nawaraj, Tikaram Sunar and Ganesh Budha were recovered.

Twenty-one year old Nawaraj had gone along with 18 others people, mostly youths, to ‘bring’ his girlfriend, 17, of Chaurjahari-8, Soti on Saturday.

Out of them, six had dived into the river to save their life after locals thrashed and chased them.

Two youths are still missing.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims have alleged the girl’s family and neighbors, including ward chairman of Chaurjahari-8 Dammar Bahadur Malla of thrashing and murdering them.
