Minister Manandhar instructs municipalities to prepare quarantines

KATHMANDU: Minister of State for Urban Development, Ram Bir Manandhar, has instructed all municipalities across the country to prepare quarantine sites in their jurisdiction.

This, he said, will help the local governments can easily address the risk of coronavirus infection whenever needed.

Minister Manandhar said that the banks of local rivers and open grounds of market areas can be developed as quarantine sites.

In the case of Kathmandu Valley, the ministry itself is ready to build additional quarantine sites if existing ones turn insufficient, according to him.

The ministry has formed a seven-member coordination committee to implement the plans developed by the high-level government committee for coronavirus control and the Ministry of Health, informs Manandhar.

The minister urges the public not to get terrorised with the infection claiming the government has taken all the initiatives required to make the public safe from the virus.
