COVID-19: US overtakes China with 85,505 cases



KATHMANDU: With the coronavirus going pandemic across the world, America has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases with 85,505 positive tests.

According to the latest figures collated by Johns Hopkins University, the US overtook China (81,782 cases) and Italy (80,589).

Meanwhile, the death toll from the novel virus has reached 1,100 in the US.

Italy has topped the list with 8,215 deaths from the novel virus followed by Spain with 4,365 and China 3,169 respectively.

The novel virus which first broke out in Chinese Wuhan City on last December has claimed lives of 23, 956 people across the world with 529,083 confirmed cases.

A total of 122, 135 among those infected with the COVID-19 have returned home after recovery.
