KATHMANDU: The Press Council Nepal (PCN) has warned that any media or person disseminating misleading information on novel coronavirus would face stern action.

Stating that some online news portals, which are not registered in the Department of Information and Broadcasting, have been disseminating fake information, the PCN said they would be closely monitored and action taken accordingly.

At a time when the world is reeling under the crisis of COVID-19, Council has urged and appealed to the media many times to produce and share factual news.

Issuing the press release, the Council has again appealed to journalists, media persons and social media users to maintain restraint and disseminate credible news.
