KATHMANDU: District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu on Monday remanded singer Astha Raut to four days in custody.

DAO, Kathmandu sent the singer to custody to facilitate police to investigate an indecent behavior case filed against her.

Police had taken the singer under control on Monday morning. Raut was arrested when she turned up at the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu with her family members.

Police Constable Ramita Shrestha deployed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Security Office had filed a complaint against the singer at Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office (MPCO),

She had lodged the complaint saying that singer Raut showed an ‘indecent behavior’ to her during a security check at the airport.

In the complaint, she has demanded a maximum punishment as per existing laws. If found guilty, Raut could face a one-year jail term or fine up to Rs 10,000 or both.

Raut had taken to social media to vent her ire on a policewoman on duty at the airport.

Talking to Khabarhub, Raut had said that the policewoman used ‘inappropriate’ words to her while she was passing through the security screening process at the airport.
