Minister Dhakal vows result-oriented activities



KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhanubhakta Dhakal has vowed he would focus result-oriented activities to make tourism sector, a pillar of national economy, dynamic and robust.

Policy level reforms would be carried out to make the activities in this sector more effective, he said while assuming the office in Singha Durbar today. “Decision will be made immediately to clear legal hurdles and coordination made stronger with other ministries,” he stressed.

Dhakal assured the ministry officials and employees, “There’s no need to be nervous over the change in ministry leadership; I play the guardianship role; I don’t indulge you in the dream but believe in result.”

The Minister stressed the economical and transparent activities in the ministry and made it clear that he had no political aim of accumulating money taking hostage of personal image and integrity.

Although the minister changes, government policy and programs are the same, he reminded, adding that he was aware not to negatively impact the service delivery while the country has gone for election.

Minister Dhakal was earlier holding the health ministry. It is the third stint of Minister Dhakal. He was initially the Minister for Law for 14 months.

On the occasion, Ministry Secretary Yadav Prasad Koirala viewed that tourism and energy are the major bases to guide the country towards prosperity. The Ministry would devote strategically to forward the plans and programs to make dynamic the tourism sector, which suffered the worst due to Covid-19.

According to him, the ministry would facilitate the development of tourism infrastructures and measures to prolong tourists’ stay. Similarly, the national pride projects under the ministry would also be focused.
