NAWALPAUR: The PCR machine procured for Madhyabindu District Hospital in the district has been lying unused from more than two months now.

The locals of Nawalpur are annoyed to find the PCR machine procured to make the coronavirus pandemic test faster and more reliable unused for more than two months now.

Bindu Sapkota, a local of Kawasoti-16, Nawalpur complained that they have to wait for weeks to get the PCR test reports as the swabs collected are sent to Pokhara for test.

“The machine meant to make the test faster is lying unused here, however, the locals are compelled to go to Chitwan or other districts if they need the PCR report quickly,” Sapkota told Khabarhub, “This is an example of how the health mechanism of the country is not working properly.”

However, Chhabi Lal Subedi, the information officer of Madhyabindu District Hospital informed that the hospital will soon bring the machine into operation.

“We are informed by the Province that they will soon arrange training for the human resources needed for the operation of the machine, after we get the notice we will send people for training and start service,” he told Khabarhub.

He added that the hospital had not been able to offer the service earlier due to lack of trained manpower.

The hospital had promised to provide PCR test service within 15 days of procurement of the machine in October.
