KATHMANDU: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe has informed that the  regular parliamentary session would commence soon and asked the concerned authority to be prepared for this.

Stressing the need for a discussion on the practical implementation of provisions of gender equality guaranteed by the Constitution, the minister said there is an important role of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in law making.

Meanwhile,  Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota today stressed the need for making the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly lively and people-oriented.

The Parliament would be successful when people’s sentiments are accommodated in making rules and regulations, he viewed at an interaction and program to exchange experiences to operate the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly organized here by the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

People’s aspirations would be addressed through the implementation of the Constitution accommodating people’s fundamental rights and norms and values of democracy, he said.

In another context, he underscored the need for training and good practice of democracy among political parties.
On the occasion, saying that the Federal Parliament was mindful of the situation wherein complaints would surface that province and local level could not function as the federal did not make laws, Chairperson of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina urged the government to act in this regard.

He viewed that there is a need for a role of all federal, province and local level to implement fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution and socialism-oriented political goals.

On the occasion, emphasising the need for a review of how many laws are made so far, Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly Shashi Kala Dahal stressed that the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly should take initiatives from their part in eradicating corruption.

General Secretariat of the Secretariat Dr Bharat Raj Gautam viewed that it would help in the operation and management of the Parliament through the exchange of experiences between the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly.

Present on the occasion were chairperson and vice chairperson of the Federal Parliament, Speaker of Province 1 Pradip Kumar Bhandari and Deputy Speaker Saraswati Pokharel, Speaker of Province 2 Saroj Kumar Yadav, Speaker of Bagmati Province Sanu Kumar Shrestha and Deputy Speaker Radhika Tamang, Speaker of Lumbini Province Purna Bahadur Gharti and Deputy Speaker Krishni Tharu, Speaker of Karnali Province Raj Bahadur Shahi and Deputy Speaker Pushpa Gharti, Speaker of Sudurpaschim Province Arjun Bahadur Thapa and Deputy Speaker Nirmala Joshi and high ranking officials of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
