NCP row: Heavyweights intensify meetings, orientation programs

KATHMANDU: With the intra-party dispute of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) touching a new climax, heavyweights have intensified internal meetings and orientation programs.

Nepal faction is making preparations to hold a conclave by involving former CPN-UML and some CPN (Maoist-Center) leaders and cadres.

Similarly, NCP Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is also trying to unite former CPN (Maoist Center) leaders and bring them into his confidence.

He is trying to take Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal into his confidence. Thapa is advocating for the Oli-led government and the party unity.

“Internal talks are underway. Discussions and talks are taking place on a daily basis to bridge the gap between the representatives and the NCP leaders created by the lack of regular party meetings,” said a leader close to Nepal.

Oli, Dahal and Nepal have made internal preparations to hold meetings of their factions without concentrating on the general convention of the party which is fast-approaching. It is slated for April 7 to 12.

On the other hand Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is holding talks with his copper-bottomed leaders and cadres to turn the tables in his favor.

He is in constant touch with the central committee members and the leaders of the party province committee and district committee, according to NCP sources.
