Former lawmaker Chaudhary dies of COVID-19



SAPTARI: Former member of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Manpur Chaudhary succumbed to the coronavirus infection on Tuesday.

Chaudhary, a resident of Jagatpur in Kanchanrup Municipality-4 of Saptari, died at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan while undergoing treatment.

Chaudhary, 55, was taken to Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar for treatment after he had difficulty breathing due to fever, said District Health Office Chief Duniya Lal Yadav.

He was taken to BPKIHS for further treatment after he had difficulty breathing even after being treated with oxygen at home under the supervision of a health worker of the municipal health branch.

Chaudhary was also suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.

Chaudhary was elected from Saptari Constituency No. 1 in the second Constituent Assembly election held in 2070 BS.

Meanwhile, 24 people have died due to the coronavirus infection in Saptari district so far, according to the health office.
