3 killed, four injured in Khotang jeep mishap



KHOTANG: Three people died and four others sustained critical injuries in a jeep accident in Khotang district at the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to the District Police Office, (DPO), Khotang, three people were killed and four more got injured when a jeep, Ko Ja 3470, met with an accident at Barahapokhari-5, Sohrakhani on early Tuesday.

The deceased have been identfied as Dakshuman Rai, 45, and Vishwo Rai, 40, of Barahapokhari-6 and Brihaspati, Rai 20, of Chaudandigadhi-8. Similarly, the innured in the incident are Brihaspati’s  husband Chhatra Bahadur Rai, 28, their nine-month-old son Dipsan Rai, Dipak Pariyar, 30, and Nabina Rai, 32.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, informed DPO, Khotang.

The ill-fated jeep was heading towards Chisapani from Bangsilaghat which is located on the border between Khotang and Udayapur.

Police said they are investigating the case after taking Yam Bahadur BK, 27, the Jeep driver, into custody.
