Kathmandu Valley registers 809 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths



KATHMANDU: As many as 809 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to Ministry of Health and Population, 633 persons in Kathmandu, 72 in Bhaktapur and 104 in Lalitpur have tested positive for pandemic virus.

Similarly, 5 persons including a woman have died from COVID-19 in the Valley.

Males aged 61, and 62 years old, a 50-year-old female, and 42-year-old and 77-year-old males in Lalitpur succumbed to coronavirus.

Likewise, a total of 1,573 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the past 24 hours.

A total of 10,123 persons underwent PCR tests at various laboratories across the country, said Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam.

At a regular press briefing on Sunday, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam informed that the latest update has taken the infection to a total of 73,394 in the country.

During the period, 885 infected persons restored their normal health. With this, the number of those recovering from the coronavirus has reached 53,898

The Ministry argued that the recovery rate at present is 73.4 percent.

Currently, there are 19,019 active cases of coronavirus. The institutional isolation have housed 8,321 infected persons and home isolation have 10,698.

Similarly, there are 6,281persons in quarantines.

Moreover, the number of people receiving treatment at ICU stands at 225, while 33 are in ventilator support.

10 persons lost lives to the coronavirus as per recent updates. The latest update reached the total death toll to 477.
