Oli, Prachanda hold talks in Baluwatar ahead of ‘emergency’ Cabinet meeting

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli and Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ are discussing Cabinet reshuffle and other political development on Sunday.

Oli and Prachanda have engaged in series of conversations at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar after the party’s Secretariat meeting held at Perisdanda last Sunday decided in principle to reshuffle the cabinet.

Prachanda’s press coordinator Bishnu Sapkota Jugal said that the meeting has just started.

It is reported that leaders Bishnu Poudel, Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey, Pampha Bhusal and Janardan Sharma are in the line to be ministers.

Apart from these, the names of Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam and Spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha and Standing Committee Member Devendra Poudel are also being discussed as new ministers.

It should be noted that the SC meeting held on September 11 had made decisions on various issues including the government’s performance, party organization, a general convention of the party, border disputes, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), terms of reference of two chairmen, coronavirus control and prevention among others.

Meanwhile, PM Oli has convened an ‘emergency’ meeting of the Council of Ministers.

The meeting has been slated at noon at Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, according to a Cabinet minister.

Cabinet meetings are usually held on Mondays and Thursdays.
