NSU demands action against BK’s murderers

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Students Union (NSU), the student wing of the main opposition Nepali Congress, has demanded action against murderers of a rape victim Samjhana BK.

Twelve-year-old BK of Masta rural municipality in Bajhang district was raped and murdered recently, according to a statement issued by NSU President Rajib Dhungana.

“It was sad that general citizens do not feel protected in a country having a democratic governance system. The government should arrest the culprits and take action against them,” read the statement. NSU accused the government of trying to spare the criminals.

NSU General Secretary Dipak Bhattarai said the incident involving Nawaraj BK of Rukum and that of Samjhana indicated increasing attacks on the Dalit community. He asked the government to make special and stern laws to stem attack on the Dalit community.
