77 including 51 NA officials test positive for COVID-19 in Banke



NEPALGUNJ: Banke has reported 77 coronavirus cases including 51 Nepal Army (NA) personnel on Wednesday.

According to Ram Bahadur Kurumbang, the Chief District Officer of Banke,  51 among those infected with the virus are Nepal Army personnel. They are from Kaushilanagar-based barrack in Kohalpur.

The swabs of all the NA officials had been tested at the private laboratory Bageshwari Diagnostic and Polyclinic Center in Banke.

Out of 100 swabs, the reports of 51 NA personnel came out positive, said polyclinic operator Bimal Budhathoki said.

Similarly, 8 out of 22 cases of Nepalgunj are the staffers of Nepal Telecom. The remaining cases include few bank staffers and locals of Nepalgunj.

The number of coronavirus cases in Banke has reached 919 as of Wednesday.

Currently, 254 peole are doing time in isolation centers while 660 have returned home  after treatment.
