Ramesh Silwal reappointed NSC Member Secretary

KATHMANDU: Former Member Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC) Ramesh Kumar Silwal has been reappointed to the post.

A meeting of Council of Ministers held on Monday evening decided to that effect.

Former captain of the national women’s volleyball team Anju Shrestha and former vice-president of the Nepal Volleyball Association Lil Bahadur Thapa were in the race for the post.

Also, the meeting appointed Shiva Koirala as the Vice-Chairman of the national sports governing body.

NSC had been sans officials since the enforcement of the National Sports Development Act 2020 on July 1.

The newly-introduced Sports Development Act has introduced the provision that says the Member Secretary of NSC will be selected from open competition from the vying candidates by a selection committee led by the Secretary at the Ministry of Youths and Sports.

The committee had forwarded three names before the Cabinet.
