KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has appointed Lila Devi Sitaula as the member of the House of Representatives (HoR) as per the recommendation by the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal.

Sitaula will replace Sarita Giri, who was expelled by the party from the Parliament alleging her of violating the party’s whip on the constitution amendment bill in June.

Sitaula has been appointed to the post of a lawmaker as her name appears on the second position in the list of candidates that has been submitted to the EC under the Proportional Representation (PR) system.

Sarita Giri had represented to the Parliament from the list of Khas-Arya candidate of the then Samajwadi Party. While Giri was in the first position, Situala’s name was in the second place.
