2nd NRN Global Knowledge Convention to take place on October 9-11

KATHMANDU: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), in coordination with the Government of Nepal, will organise the 2nd NRN Global Knowledge Convention from October 9-11, it has been said.

The convention will be organised online or physically depending on the situation created by global COVID-19 pandemic, said the NRNA.

It will take place at the Kathmandu University in Dhulikhel in Kavrepalanchok once the situation created by the infection comes to normalcy, said the NRNA Vice President, Dr Badri KC.

The NRNA is working as a bridge in bringing in knowledge, skills, efficiency and experiences of non-resident Nepalis through the convention, he said.

Until some years ago, only financial investments of non-resident Nepalis would be poured in Nepal.

The convention aims to import their intellectual investments except financial investments to link Nepal’s development and prosperity,” he said.

Papers on various subjects from experts from the world including Nepal would be presented in the convention.

Issues related to various sectors including the impact of COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal and ways to be adopted post-infection would be discussed, said Dr KC.

According to him, during the event full session would be held on various topics such as COVID-19 impact on Nepal’s economic and path of recovery in coordination of Dr Bishwa Poudel and Ranjit Mahato, ‘Preparation for Pandemic and Natural Disaster Risk Management’ in coordination of Dr Dron Rasaili and Dr Puru Shrestha and ‘Science Technology and Innovation Policy Implementation’ in coordination of Dr Uttambabu Shrestha and Dr Suresh Kumar and ‘Research, Innovation and Commercialization’ in coordination of Dr Raju Adhikari.

Likewise, workshop session would be organised on themes such as ‘Agriculture and Food Security’ by Dr Jagadish Timalsina, ‘Biomedical Technology’ by Dr Devi Basnet, ‘Financial Investment’ by Ranjit Mahato and Analraj Bhattarai, ‘Leveraging FinTech for Economic Development’ by Lokraj Sharma, ‘Information and Communication Technology’ by Dr Gyanendra Prasad Joshi, ‘Intersection in Natural Sciences’ by Dr Tara Sigdel and Dr Narayan Adhikari and ‘Life and Health Sciences’ by Dr Dron Rasaili and Dr Archana Amatya.

Various committees such as steering committee, management committee and advisor committees have been formed to successfully organize the knowledge convention, informed Coordinator of the Conference, Dr Hemraj Sharma.

Likewise, the Health Committee of the Association would organize world health summit from September 18-20 this year. More than 100 medical persons of Nepali origin and from all over the world would participate in the conference.
