Heavy rain forecast for next five days

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted heavy rain for the next five days.

In a press statement today, the Department said monsoon is coming active again from today and it will continue till July 31as monsoon trough is drawing closer to the Terai plains from today.

During this period, wind laden with water vapor from the Arabian Sea will be entering the country.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted light to moderate rainfall at almost all parts and heavy rains at some parts of the country.

Likewise, increase in water level in rivers and incidences of soil erosion and landslide in the hilly region are likely during this period.

As a result, traffic and air flights are likely to be disrupted and areas lacking a proper drainage system may face the inundation issue, the Division said, seeking necessary alertness to avoid any untoward incident.
