NHRC urges govt to safeguard lives of agitating youth



KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the government to address the demands of agitating youth who are on fast unto death for ten  days seeking to increase the scope of PCR tests.

Issuing a press statement today, NHRC Spokesperson Bed Prasad Bhattarai urged the government to address the genuine demands of the agitating side and safeguard their lives.

He has also asked the government to resolve the issue by implementing the agreement inked in the past.

Likewise, the NHRC has appealed to the agitating side not to opt for such an uncompromising way but to begin dialogue to sort out their concerns.

Demanding the implementation of agreement between the Ministry of Health and Population and the agitating sides agreed on 6 July, two youth are in fast unto death in Basantapur area for ten days.

Meanwhile, the NHRC team on Sunday monitored the health condition of agitating youth by visiting them in Basantapur area.
