554 new cases in past 24 hrs propel Nepal’s COVID-19 count to 12,309

KATHMANDU: A total of 554 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Nepal in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that among the newly-infected are 434 males and 120 females.

With the news cases, the total number of confirmed cases has reached 12,309.

According to Dr. Gautam, three women and four men from Udayapur and five men from Ilam testes positive at Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar, a woman and a man from Morang at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Biratnagar and at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Janakpur, three men from Dhanusha, one woman and 29 men from Mahottari have been confirmed to have coronavirus infection.

Similarly, a laboratory test at Narayani Hospital has confirmed the infection in a woman and a man in Parsa.

Similarly, a woman and 12 men from Achham, 16 men from Arghakhanchi, six women and 18 men from Baitadi, four men from Bajhang, one woman and three men from Bajura, one woman and seven men from Bara, two women and six men from Dadeldhura, three men from Dhading and 15 women 31 men from Doti tested positive at the National Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu.

Similarly, two women and five men from Gulmi, one man from Jajarkot, two women and six men from Kailali, three men from Kanchanpur, one man from Kapilvastu, one man from Parsa, one woman and eight men from Rasuwa, three women and 31 men from Rautahat, 13 men in Salyan, six in Sarlahi and five in Syangja have confirmed to be infected.

Similarly, two men from Chitwan have been diagnosed with the infection in a test conducted at Bharatpur Hospital, Chitwan and six men from Nuwakot and two men from Makwanpur in the test in Hetauda.

Similarly, one woman and three men from Bara were confirmed to be infected in tests at Dhulikhel Hospital and one woman and three men from Panchthar, one woman and three men from Kathmandu, one man from Bhaktapur, one woman and three men from Bajhang and two men from Doti were tested positive at Patan Hospital.

A test conducted at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, has confirmed coronavirus infection in 31 women and 50 men in Bajura.

Likewise, a woman and a man from Nawalparasi East have been infected in a test conducted at the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences, while eight men from Baglung, six women and 15 men from Syangja have been infected in a test conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory Pokhara.

According to Dr. Gautam, tests conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Rupandehi have confirmed the infection in one woman and one man from Arghakhanchi, two women and 24 men from Palpa, three women and 46 men from Pyuthan and three women and five men from Rupandehi.

Two men from Banke, one woman and three men from Bardiya have been confirmed to have the infection in tests at the laboratory of Bheri Hospital.

Three women and 28 men from Dang, two women and five men from Kapilvastu and one woman from Rolpa have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in a test conducted at Rapti Institute of Health Sciences, Dang.

Similarly, a woman and six men from Surkhet, a woman and a man from Baitadi, 25 women from Doti, five women and one man from Kailali and two men from Kanchanpur were diagnosed with coronavirus in a laboratory test conducted at the Surkhet Provincial Hospital.

Nepal has performed 210,876 sample tests through the PCR method so far, he said.

A total of 4,606 sample tests have been performed through the PCR method and 3,685 samples test performed though the RDT method in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

Likewise, 136 persons were discharged from the hospital after being recovered from the pandemic virus in the past 24 hours. With this, the number of recovered people has reached 2,834.

Currently, 9,447 people are in isolation and 65,712 in quarantines across the country.

COVID-19 has spread to all 77 districts of Nepal.
