Nepal’s COVID-19 tally reaches 51 as Birgunj reports 2 new cases



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 51 on Sunday afternoon after two fresh cases reported in Birgunj.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the newly-infected persons are men aged around 50 years.

Their swab samples were tested at the Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory.

Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari said that both have been put in isolation at the hospital. Both are in normal health conditions, Dr. Adhikari said in a statement.

A total of 12 persons have been discharged across Nepal so far.

Nepal has tested over 49,000 samples for coronavirus so far. A total of 9,668 samples have been tested through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method and 39,670 through Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits.

Some 14,731 people are in quarantine till Sunday afternoon and a total of 87 people have been isolated with three in Kathmandu Valley and 84 outside the Valley.
