Sarokar Samaj distributes relief materials to 155 families



KATHMANDU: Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj (TSS) has distributed relief materials to 155 needy families hit by the lockdown in the last two days.

The materials were distributed to 86 families, mostly students and daily wage earners living in the Kathmandu Valley on Saturday, Mohan Kumar Dangi, Chairman of the Samaj, told Khabarhub.

Relief materials including 25 kg of rice, three kilograms of lentil, 1 kg salt, 1 kg beaten rice, 1 kg sugar and a piece of soap worth Rs 2, 500 were doled out to  the needy in the areas including Bishalnagar, Kalimati, Thankot, Kirtipur, Balkhu including some places in Lalitpur on Saturday.

“I was extremely delighted to provide a relief package to a Tehrathum brother rendered without food for three days due to the lockdown. He had come to receive the relief package walking for two hours on foot,” shared Chairman Dangi.

Meanwhile, Dangi has appealed to one and all to donate to the best of their ability to the people suffering from hunger as a result of the lockdown.

Expressing thankfulness to the Samaj, Arjun Bahadur BK from Chhathar rural municipality, Tehrathum, currently staying in Chandrangiri Municipality-4, Thankot, said the package served as a great succor to him at a time when the country is under lockdown. He is a daily wage earner.

Earlier on Friday, with pure benevolence at heart, the relief materials were distributed to 69 families in Shankhapark, Budhanilkantha, Basundhara, Tokha and Gongabu areas.

The Samaj is distributing relief materials to the needy people in the areas including Shiphal Chaur, Hanumansthan (bhatbhateni), Naya Baneshwor, Kaushaltar, Suryabinayak Chowk, Chyamasing, Thulobensi, Purano Thimi, Pepsikola, Kandaghari, Mulpani, Shankhu, Narayantar, Gokarna, Baudddha on Sunday, informed Bhagiman Gurung, secretary of the Samaj.

Established in 2006 , the Samaj, a non-political and non-profit social organization, has been distributing relief materials since Friday to lockdown-hit students, daily wage earners and the needy from Tehrathum district living in the capital.

The relief collection and distribution committee had been formed under the coordination of Keshab Bhattarai, General Secretary of the Samaj.
